Privacy, in plain language
Better Chico collects only what is needed to run a trustworthy local job board. We do not sell personal information or use advertising trackers.
Site analytics
We count approximate page views, landing referral categories, coarse viewport-size buckets, and successful seeker-facing page requests. We also separate known bot signatures from requests that appear to come from a browser or an unknown client.
We do not use analytics cookies, browser storage, visitor or session IDs, fingerprinting, exact screen dimensions, full referrer URLs, search terms, individual job IDs, or activity outside this site. Raw IP addresses and user-agent strings are not stored in analytics data. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals stop the browser analytics request automatically.
Daily aggregate counts are kept for 24 months and then deleted. The public analytics page combines small categories and never presents page views as people, applications, or hires.
Company verification
When a company representative applies to manage job openings, we collect their personal LinkedIn profile URL and US phone number only to help administrators verify their relationship to the company.
That information is visible only to administrators reviewing the request. It is not displayed publicly, sold, or shared for advertising. Both values are permanently deleted when the company request is approved or rejected.
Operational records
Account, application, job, moderation, and audit records follow separate retention rules because they support the operation and security of the job board. Analytics are not used for authorization, moderation, billing, or as proof that someone completed an application.
